Each painting consists of a collection of rectangles painted in various ratios familiar to the contemporary, digitized experience (16:9, 16:10 and 4:3). These rectangles present the viewer with a “window” of information intended to elicit personal associations through shifts in color and tone. Each painting is made on black burlap consistent with my previous bodies of work. Tape and stencils are used to create provisional barriers encouraging the chance passage of pigment and ultimately blurring boundaries. These paintings present the viewer with both an objective and subjective experience calling attention to what is real and what is perceived.
